Record Sales for Suppliers to the Mining Industry

The members of the mining association within the German Engineering Federation (“Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbauer” – VDMA) met in Essen on 11 November 2019. Their forecast for the current year is: a sales increase of about 38% to  EUR 4.98 b for German mining machine manufacturers.

The largest proportion of revenues at approximately 98% came from abroad. The EU 28 are the largest market. Australia and Russia have also played a key role in this increase.

Association President Dr. Michael Schulte Strathaus believes the domestic market will play a secondary role in future. The reasons for this are, in particular, the departure from lignite power generation as well as the decreasing possibilities to convey domestic resources any longer and comply with the difficult planning conditions.

Furthermore, Dr. Schulte Strathaus believes the revenue level for the year ahead will be nearly the same as this year.
