Household waste recycling systems have a lot of problems cleaning their conveyor belts. Sticky organic waste and abrasive particles, like glass and sand, regularly adhere to the belts. This causes backups and interrupts operation. Conventional scrapers were not robust enough and wore out easily, making frequent maintenance necessary. At the same time, there was damage to the belts, because the scrapers couldn’t be optimally adjusted. Operators searched for a solution that cleans effectively, reduces wear, and lowers operating cost.
Solution
We solve system operators’ cleaning problems through targeted use of our STARCLEAN® Spillage Control Portfolio. On the discharge drums with coarse crushed material, our type 18n PU primary scraper is used. The scraper reliably removes the material while protecting the conveyor belt. In areas with fibrous and unpredictable materials, we use our polyurethane strip type 04n. They clean thoroughly and have high resistance to wear — one of the best scraper alternatives in the recycling industry.
The modular STARCLEAN® system allows fast, easy maintenance, because it's simple to replace individual scraper segments when necessary. Moreover, the innovative Twist-Swing® function ensures optimal, gentle cleaning. Each segment adapts individually to the belt surface and can avoid obstacles. These characteristics guarantee a reliable long-term solution for every requirement of a recycling system.
