Recyclingcenter Ostschweiz (RCO) is redefining the standards in building materials recycling with its new wet-mechanical, fully automated processing plant. This innovative plant not only enables the recycling of a wider range of residues from the construction industry but also the processing of contaminated construction waste. The state-of-the-art process technology produces around 200,000 tons of high-quality construction material annually, which is sufficient to build over 500 single-family homes sustainably.
Ensuring optimum and efficient cleaning of the conveyor belts is a major challenge because the wet, highly adhesive material requires the right product selection and perfect installation on the belt system.
Solution
Deploying the right combination of primary and secondary scrapers at the right places in the system helps to improve the efficiency, safety, and service life of the system while also minimizing contamination, and optimizing overall system performance. What’s more, a clean working environment is crucial for the safety of employees. The STARCLEAN® primary scrapers ensure that the coarse material on the drum is cleaned. Our secondary cleaners on the return part of the belt take care of the ultra-fine cleaning of the conveyor belt.
The following scrapers were installed:
- Primary scraper with type 82n and 283n polyurethane blades
- Primary scraper with type 85n and 86nl carbide blades
- Type 53n and 56n secondary scrapers
